  • The speed sensor signal is excessively noisy.
  • The calculated change in wheel speed is more than 980 m/s2 for 5*1 or 20*2 seconds or more.
  • The calculated change in wheel speed fluctuates between more than 500 m/s2 and less than -500 m/s2 for 5*1 or 20*2 seconds or more.
  • When the vehicle speed is low, excessive noise in the speed sensor pulse signal is detected 3 times or more within 0.005 seconds for 5*1 or 20*2 seconds or more.
  • Front speed sensor RH
  • Front speed sensor rotor RH (front axle hub sub-assembly RH)
  • *1: The stop light switch assembly is OFF.
  • *2: The stop light switch assembly is ON.

  • After replacing or removing and installing a speed sensor, perform Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection to confirm that the speed sensors are operating correctly.

    Procedure to clear warning lights (When not clearing DTCs)

    Procedure

    1. Repair or replacement.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Drive the vehicle at 54 km/h (34 mph) or more for 3 seconds or more to clear the warning lights.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER)

(a) Remove the front speed sensor RH.

(b) Check the front speed sensor RH.

OK:

The front speed sensor RH tip is free of oil and foreign matter.

HINT:

If foreign matter of 1mm x 1mm or more is adhered to the front speed sensor RH, this DTC may be stored.

GO TO STEP 7

2.

CHECK FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR RH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER)

(a) Remove the component with the front speed sensor rotor RH.

(b) Check the front speed sensor rotor RH.

OK:

The front speed sensor rotor RH is free of oil and foreign matter.

HINT:

If foreign matter of 1mm x 1mm or more is adhered to the front speed sensor rotor RH, this DTC may be stored.

REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH AND FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

CLEAN FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR RH

(a) Clean the front speed sensor rotor RH.

NOTICE:

Do not use parts cleaner when cleaning the front speed sensor rotor RH.

CLEAR DTC

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Operate the Techstream to clear the codes. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Trouble Codes.

Chassis > Brake > Clear DTCs

(d) Press the DTC clear button.

5.

PERFORM DEALER MODE (SIGNAL CHECK) INSPECTION (SPEED SENSOR CHECK)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Using the Techstream, perform a Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection sensor check and check that speed sensor Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection items change from incomplete to complete. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Utility / Signal Check.

RECONFIRM DTC

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Start the engine.

(c) Perform a road test under the same malfunction conditions recreated based on the Freeze Frame Data or customer problem analysis.

(d) Read the DTCs following the prompts on the Techstream. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Trouble Codes.

Chassis > Brake > Trouble Codes

(e) Check if the same DTC is output.

CLEAN FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH

(a) Clean the front speed sensor RH.

NOTICE:

When cleaning the front speed sensor RH, make sure to clean the installation hole before installation.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Operate the Techstream to clear the codes. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Trouble Codes.
