Toyota Camry (XV70): Inspection

INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT BRAKE CYLINDER AND PISTON

(a) Check the rear disc brake cylinder bore and rear disc brake piston for rust and scoring. If necessary, replace the rear disc brake cylinder and rear disc brake piston.

2. INSPECT PAD LINING THICKNESS

(a) Using a ruler, measure the rear disc brake pad lining thickness.

Standard Thickness:

10.2 mm (0.402 in.)

Minimum Thickness:

1.0 mm (0.0394 in.)

HINT:

  • If a rear disc brake pad lining thickness is less than the minimum thickness, replace the rear disc brake pads.
  • Be sure to check rear disc thickness when replacing the rear disc brake pads with new ones.

3. INSPECT REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

NOTICE:

  • If the rear disc brake pad support plate is securely installed, do not remove the rear disc brake pad support plate from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting as it can be reused.
  • As the rear disc brake pad support plate is a non-reusable part, if the rear disc brake pad support plate is removed from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting, it must be replaced with a new one.
  • Be sure to perform an inspection after installing the rear disc brake pad support plate to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

(a) Make sure that the rear disc brake pad support plates have sufficient rebound, no deformation, cracks or wear, and that all rust and dirt is cleaned off. If necessary, replace the rear disc brake pad support plates with new ones.

4. INSPECT DISC THICKNESS

(a) Using a micrometer, measure the rear disc thickness.

Standard Thickness:

10.0 mm (0.394 in.)

Minimum Thickness:

8.5 mm (0.335 in.)

HINT:

If the rear disc thickness is less than the minimum thickness, replace the rear disc.

Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Compare Failure (C124E62)

DESCRIPTION The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) measures the speed of each wheel by receiving signals from each speed sensor. These signals are used for recognizing that all four wheels are operating properly. Therefore, signals from all wheels must be equal. DTC No. Detection

Brake Switch "A" Circuit Open (P057113)

DESCRIPTION The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) receives stop light switch assembly signals and uses them to determine whether or not the brakes are applied. The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) has a detection circuit that it uses to detect an open in the stop light input lin
