ADJUSTMENT
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
(a) Completely release the parking brake pedal assembly.
(b) Fully depress the parking brake pedal assembly to engage the parking brake.
(c) Depress the parking brake pedal assembly again to disengage the parking brake.
(d) Slowly depress the parking brake pedal assembly using the specified force, and count the number of clicks. Parking Brake Pedal Travel: 7 to 12 notches at 300 N (31 kgf, 67.4 lbf) If the parking brake pedal travel is not as specified, adjust the parking brake shoe clearance and parking brake pedal travel. |

2. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
(a) Completely release the parking brake pedal assembly.
(b) Turn the No. 1 wire adjusting nut until the parking brake pedal travel is corrected to within the specified range. Parking Brake Pedal Travel: 7 to 12 notches at 300 N (31 kgf, 67.4 lbf) NOTICE: If the No. 1 wire adjusting nut has been removed from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly, replace the No. 1 wire adjusting nut with a new one. |

(c) Remove the rear wheels.

(d) Temporarily install the hub nuts to the hub bolts.
HINT:
Make sure to tighten the hub nuts so that the rear disc is secure.
(e) Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting hole plug.
(f) Turn the parking brake shoe adjuster and expand the shoes until the disc locks.

(g) Turn and contract the parking brake shoe adjuster until the rear disc can rotate smoothly.
Standard:
Returns 8 notches.
(h) Check that there is no brake drag against the shoe.
(i) Operate the parking brake pedal assembly 3 to 4 times.
(j) Turn the No. 1 wire adjusting nut until the parking brake pedal travel is corrected to be within the specified range.
Parking Brake Pedal Travel:
7 to 12 notches at 300 N (31 kgf, 67.4 lbf)
(k) Operate the parking brake pedal assembly 3 to 4 times.
(l) Check the parking brake pedal travel.
Parking Brake Pedal Travel:
7 to 12 notches at 300 N (31 kgf, 67.4 lbf)
(m) Install the parking brake shoe adjusting hole plug.
(n) Check that the parking brake does not drag.
(o) Remove the hub nuts from the hub bolts.
(p) Install the rear wheels.

3. INSPECT BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
(a) When operating the parking brake pedal assembly, check that the brake warning light illuminates.
Standard:
The brake warning light always illuminates at the first click.
